Why is democracy the most desired form of government?
OK, this may be splitting hairs, but strictly speaking, democracy isn’t the most desirable, because it gives absolute rule to the majority. Formally, a democracy is a system in which a majority vote of the people is all that is needed to pass or repeal any law. Bill of Rights? Under a true democracy, a majority of the people could vote at any time to toss out any such decrees. Under our current system, it would take a very involved process to repeal any of the Bill of Rights, or any of the rest of the U.S. Constitution or its amendments; it would involve a 2/3 vote of both houses of Congress and a majority vote in 3/4 of the state legislatures.
