Why is COS implemented using the Microsoft® structured storage standard?
This storage model supports many of the features desired by the typical photofinishing customer, such as: • the ability to reference multiple image files and specify multiple products across these image files • the ability to reference image files which are either embedded within the COS file or contained outside of the file • the ability to easily and privately extend the standard • the ability to store the entire COS file directory hierarchy in a single file for easy storage and transmission
