Why is continuous patient supervision needed on a general hospital floor?
Unnecessary patient crises in hospitals are often caused by the inability to detect deteriorations in a patients condition in a timely enough manner to enable an effective proactive response. Tragic episodes could potentially be avoided with continuous supervision. The Joint Commission recently published its 2008 Patient Safety Goals, which clearly identify the need for recognizing changes in a patient`s condition. Continuous supervision supports compliance with this requirement.
