Why is constructing physical church buildings important. Why can’t you just save the construction money by meeting in homes or renting space?
Our congregations do meet in homes each week for small-group fellowship and discipleship. However, for our large-scale corporate weekend meetings, there is obviously not enough room to meet in a home. Also, God is not a renter. He is an owner. The Church should be good stewards of our money, and not continue to throw rental money down the sink, year after year. The countries in which we work are largely atheistic. Overall, people assume that if you are a committed Christian, you must have lower intelligence and less ability to be successful in life or business. It is a dramatic testimony for a new church to own land and have its own building. It visually demonstrates that the Church is smart, able and “a major player” in the Community. It shows we are serious about our mission. To sum it up: God is a builder. So are we.
