One of our users has discovered the culprit: Symantec Anti-Virus. When using its “Auto-Protect” setting, it attempts to scan the code of ComicBase for viruses each time ComicBase loads: a lengthy and unnecessary procedure. To prevent this, disable the Auto Protect feature in Symantec Anti-Virus, (or add ComicBase to its list of excluded applications, if it has one).
