Why is chromatography used in the police?
Chromatology allows scientists to determine the chemical make up of substances by creating a chart or color graph of the spectral components (light colors) present in a given sample. Each chemical can be identified by the pattern of light colors displayed on a graph by a chromatograph. Chromatography is often used in criminal law to identify any toxic chemicals in an investigation of a potential poisoning homicide or to identify illegal drugs in use or present in the body during an examination of a suspect or on autopsy.
