Why is chewing gum not allowed in schools?

Because it is annoying to hear some of them popping their gum ( which drives me right up the wall ) or some chew like cows making all kinds of disgusting sounds. It’s too bad they ruined it for those who know how to chew properly and how to throw their used gum in the trash and not wherever they decide to stick it.
