Norbert Leo Butz (born January 30, 1967) is an American actor best known for his work in Broadway theatre.Butz was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Elaine and Norbert Butz. He is often referred to as “Norbs” by his family. He was raised in a “very middle class Catholic family.” Although he was the 7th son, he was named after his father, Norbert. He was the seventh of 11 children in his family.” Butz earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Webster University and a Master of Fine Arts from The University of Alabama/Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s Professional Actor Training Program. Butz is married to former Wicked principal Michelle Federer (the original Nessarose). Butz made his Broadway debut as Adam Pascal’s replacement as Roger Davis in Rent in 1996. Seattle previews of the world-premiere, Broadway-bound musical Catch Me If You Can, which were scheduled to begin July 23 at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre, have been postponed due to a family emergency involving one of the principal cast members. The July 23 and 24 performances of the world premiere have been canceled “due to a serious family emergency affecting a principal cast member,” according to representatives at the 5th Avenue Theatre. Although tickets for the remainder of the weekend are currently unavailable for purchase, 5th Avenue has not officially canceled those performances. An announcement is expected later this week. Tickets are currently on sale for the week beginning July 30. Catch Me If You Can is scheduled to run through Aug. 16. Ticket holders for the canceled performances may reschedule for another performance during the run. The 5th Avenue Theatre is canceling the first two performances of the new musical “Catch Me If You Can,” which was scheduled to begin previews this week. According to the company, the first shows, set for Thursday and Friday, are being canceled so that of one the show’s stars, Norbert Leo Butz, can attend to an undisclosed family emergency. Ticketholders for the canceled nights are encouraged to trade in their tickets for another performance during the run, which is slated to end on Aug. 16. However, full refunds are also available.
