Saliva testing is more likely to detect the presence of the active substance in the sample from recent use. Urine testing provides information about a larger window of detection, a recent history of use, as it also tests for the metabolites of the testable drugs. CASA’s primary aim is to influence and protect aviation safety, not to detect drug users.
