Why is calculating ovulation not the best or fastest way of getting pregnant?
Many experts agree that a couple can greatly increase their chances of getting pregnant if they time intercourse for the few days before a woman’s ovulation date. The fertility window for a woman trying to conceive starts five days before ovulation and includes the day of ovulation. The 4 days before ovulation hold an 80% probability of pregnancy, while the day of ovulation only holds a 5% chance. Because the human egg typically lives for about 12 to 17 hours after ovulation, a couple is unlikely to become pregnant after the day of ovulation. So, only calculating the day of ovulation gives you a very narrow window of opportunity to conceive.
