Why is breast cancer that is estrogen receptor negative more aggressive?

0

Answer Breast tissue is normally regulated by among other things estrogen, so it has estrogen receptors. Breast cancer cells are derived from normal breast tissue cells. So when they do have such estrogen receptors, not only can these cancer cells be hormonally regulated, it is also a sign that they are more closely related to normal breast tissue cells and therefore somewhat more well behaved. When they lack such receptors it is a sign in the opposite direction. So such cells are more aggressive and not under hormonal control. Both points make them less easy to control. I do hope this answers your question!
