Why is Blue’s relationship with USAT important in product development/marketing?
CR: As a young company we need to be able to access lots of athletes and USAT provides us with a field of athletes to do some testing. Secondly, there are a lot of people who have not heard of Blue because we don’t have the cash to spend a million euros or more on a pro tour team. There are 115,000 annual members and another 250,000 one day racers in the USAT fold and we get a direct line to those athletes so they can learn about a great bike and now we are supporting the sport above and beyond just paying some Italian guy to climb mountains really fast. What other challenges did you face in the process? MS: Our design criteria keeps us focused on the critical design parameters that we need to meet in order to make the best frame possible. Those criteria are fairly objective and therefore create little if any disagreement from the team.
