Why is Black Entertainment Television allowed?

0

Because White Entertainment Television would be WET, and I’m sure there is a porn channel out there that is already called that…..so it couldn’t be done. Besides, it’s not owned by black people as might be assumed. It is owned by the giant that is Viacom (MTV Networks, BET Networks, just to name a few). Furthermore, I don’t know where you got your census data, but blacks do not make up 20% of the U.S. population…..it’s closer to 13% (12.8% to be exact). Hispanics make up 15.8% of the population, and they have Univision, and other spanish language channels. So it’s not rare for a channel to exist to appeal to a specific ethnic group.
