Why is bird disturbance a problem?
The beach is an important feeding ground for various nationally or internationally rare bird species. Many of the birds that use the beach are important nationally and internationally. Dogs and people will cause birds to take flight or at best become more vigilant. If this occurs frequently, birds will not be able to eat enough food to enable them to survive such things as cold spells or migration.
