Why is biodiversity important in an ecosystem?
Biodiversity in an ecosystem is important because if one species was to become low in numbers, through predation, or hunting by humans, then the other species which lived off of them are still capable of feeding off of other species. It is a fine balance which takes years to get right, generally leading to a climax community, for example Rainforests.
