Why is beer in Australia so expensive?

Apart from US beers being rubbish and full of preservatives, Australia produces a far better product. Secondly, we have higher wages and better workers conditions and subsequently that is reflected in the prices of all Australian produce. If you are buying 330 ml beers, you are buying the ‘fashionable’ beers. Go with 375 ml beers of the mainstream and you will pay less than you are already. Also, shop around. Like I am a stout drinker. I see a six pack of Coopers Stout stubbies at $19.95 at one store, while at another, they were $10.65 on the same day. A tip about US beers versus Aussie and European beers….. Almost exclusively to America, beers have a “Use by” or “best by” date…. this means preservatives added. The best beers grow better the older they get. Just like a good scotch or bourbon. Almost all Australia beers have been in the bottle at least 3 months before they leave the brewery. While the famous Coors of Golden Colorado, is on the shelves within a week of being bottled.
