Why is baseball Americas pasttime?
Well, I’m not sure it is any more. Many people would pick football. Nonetheless, it might be still, and it certainly once was, and I would say that has something to do with the fact that the early promoters of the game (i.e. Albert Spaulding) did their jobs very well.
