Why is Avandia suspected of being a defective drug?
Rosiglitazone maleate, marketed as Avandia, Avandamet and Avandaryl is an insulin sensitizer that has been beneficial to patients who have Type 2 (non insulin dependant) diabetes. Unfortunately, Avandia has been known to promote fluid retention, a precursor to more serious conditions such as hypertension and congestive heart failure.
