Sure, people could sue instead or people could faithfully pay, but those aren’t guarantees because a lot of people aren’t honest to pay when they say they will and lawsuits are only good if the other party can afford to pay. In addition to that, insurance companies usually have the money to cover damages to cars when they get in accidents that a lot of poeple may not have. That’s why you pay premiums each month.
