Why is attending Orientation expected of each transfer student?
Even though you have experience as a college student, navigating your way through UC Davis can be a huge challenge. UC Davis is a large, research-based institution that runs on a fast-paced quarter system. This means you have new jargon to learn, new online systems to figure out, in addition to setting your class schedule to ensure an on-time graduation. Orientation is the best way to get started on the path to academic success at UC Davis. You will learn about the academic and social aspects of the campus, receive academic advising for your college and major requirements, and register for classes for the Fall Quarter. In addition, you will learn about Transfer and Reentry Student Services and meet other new and former UC Davis transfer students. You will also meet faculty and administration who will help you transition to university life. You will have the opportunity to register for your Fall classes with the guidance of an Orientation Leader.
