Why Is Animal Experimentation a Women’s Issue?
Most informed people understand that animals make poor models in general for biomedical research. The varying physiologies and biochemistries of different species make it extremely difficult to apply animal data to human patients. But many people don’t realize that animals are particularly unsuited for research into gender-related illnesses. Human sex differences provide unique variables that simply cannot be accounted for in animals; hence animal research into women’s health issues is especially wasteful and irresponsible.
