Why is American obsessed with the mafia?
Look at the great actors they put in the Mafia-type movies; DeNiro, Pacino, Pesci, etc. A lot of us would watch these guys in any movie they appeared in. In the books, movies and TV programs, they do show that the characters are human; are generous; are good-hearted–when they’re not sinking someone in the ocean with cement boots on. They love their families, their children, they are people. The stories are fascinating–some are fiction, some are not-so-fictional… Now, no one can have anything against PG comedy mafia movies such as the two with DeNiro and Billy Crystal (Analyze This/That). When I lived in NYC, everyone claimed to be ‘connected’; this was, to them, a good thing.
