Why is America interfering in the Scottish Legal System?
Well, that’s a very sensible point. It’s none of their business. He was tried under Scottish law because his crime took place in Scotland. He didn’t just kill Americans (if he’s actually guilty which several people, including victims families, have serious doubts about) he killed half of the residents of a Scottish street and other British people on the plane. It may be international terrorism, as someone brightly said, however that is not a valid reason for US pressure on another nation. Every senator in the US government could stick their noses in; it does not alter the fact that it is the decision of the Scottish Justice Secretary and he is not obliged to take advice from a foreign government, no matter how big and powerful they are. And frankly I’d rather be from a nation that shows compassion to anyone no matter what they’re accused of, rather than the US Government position which basically states ‘we don’t care if there’s doubts about his conviction; he can rot in prison because
