Why is alpaca wool so special?
As we mentioned above, Alpaca is the only fine-haired fleece that comes in 22 officially-recognised natural colours (and even more unofficial ones!). It makes alpaca wool unique among the fine fibres. Since ‘Farm Yarn’ believe in the beauty of nature and its positive effect on humans, Farm Yarn offer only natural colours. Alpaca wool has other qualities. For instance, it contains no lanolin, which is often referred to as the cause of wool allergies and is therefore hypo-allergenic and very good for people with sensitive skin (especially babies). Because alpaca wool is hollow it can absorb body moisture much better. So in winter you feel warm and comfortable, and in summer dry and fresh. When you buy a ball of wool of Farm Yarns’ alpaca knitting yarn, you can be sure that the animals have not been slaughtered, as is common practice in South America.
