But the airline, regardless of what it will call itself is still expected to offer nonstop flights from Lansing to Newark, N.J., and Baltimore. Flights were to begin June 2 but now will begin June 30, airline officials said Monday. “Azul” is the Spanish word for “blue.” The new name, which officials said will be announced Monday, will be less reminiscent of a color. “We found it was very difficult to use the name “blue” in the United States because it (could be) confused with another airline,” said Sharon McDermott, director of airline services for Sun America Inc. The Clearwater, Fla.-based company owns the name Air Azul. The upshot for the Lansing area is that service will arrive, but travelers on the carrier will have to rebook their trips when the new name and Web site are launched Monday.
