Why is Adobe developing SVG browser plug-ins?
Although the SVG working group (which includes both Netscape and Microsoft) is planning for the implementation of SVG natively in both Navigator and Internet Explorer, there is the issue of backwards compatibility. In order to provide the widest accessibility to SVG content on the Web, plug-ins will continue to be necessary until current browsers become obsolete. Adobe plans to make the plug-ins easily available through Adobe.com, related Adobe products, and anywhere else users may want or need to download the plug-ins.
