WHY IS ACTUAL TALENT CONSIDERED UNCOOL TODAY?
The music I grew up listening to used to have substance, meaning, and celebrated exceptional talent and pushing the envelope of what you could do with an instrument. Today you’re lucky to hear a song that was created with actual instruments as opposed to Virtual Musicians brought to life via an Apple Computer in the studio. No longer is it marketable to have a band of actual musicians that are part of the concept the record industry is selling. It’s all about marketing the same old lousy corporate sound be it a boy band, pop princess, or some variation of hip hop or new country. It’s all sounding the same anymore. What happened to creativity? What happened to the music? I know millions of Americans are fascinated with Idol, but I find it to be a glaring example of our amateur worship and lack of rewarding true creativity.
