Why is acid rain such a problem in Scandinavia?

Scandinavia is further north, the ecosystem is more frail and less able to mitigate acid rain, the ground tends to be rocky with less soil and less limestone so there’s less to buffer the acid rain with. This is also why acid rain is having a greater impact on Canadian Maple trees then on American Maple trees. Most of the soil and limestone over the Canadian shield was scraped off by glaciers and pushed into the States.
