Why is a worm in a bottle of tequilla?

Everyone is wrong. When tequilla was originally produced, they put the worm in the first bottle of the batch to test the quality of whole batch. If the worm is in every bottle it IS a marketing tactic. BUT the true theory goes like this. If the worm curled inwards the tequilla was good. If the worm turned outwards the tequilla was bad. If you drop a worm in any tequilla, whether good or bad, the alcohol content would kill it, contrary to what others have said. I’m not sure why it would turn a different way, maybe because of toxins in the bad tequilla.
