Patty Murray, D-Wash., by the mayor of Phoenix was canceled at the last minute amid protests from local Republicans, veterans and college students angered by the senator’s recent praise of Osama bin Laden’s nation-building tactics. When I first saw this I thought there must be a town in Washington State that is named Phoenix. After all, the area also includes such places as Fort Bragg and Levenworth. But I read the article and found that they were indeed talking about Arizona, so the question stands.
