Why is a thin split-thickness biopsy needed?
Cells are generally harvested from the dermal-epidermal junction so Avita Medical does not require a full-thickness biopsy. Thick biopsy’s are generally harder to process and may result in impaired patient healing. Both the biopsy and 20 to 40mls of autologous blood is transported back to Avita Medical using insulated containers. Contact Avita Medical to access these containers before harvesting a biopsy.
