Why is a raised median planned near the Old Glenn Highway intersection?
Traffic safety is enhanced by minimizing conflicts caused by vehicles turning into and out of driveways within the intersection approach area. A median helps accomplish this by prohibiting left-turns into and out of driveways, which is the most disruptive conflict. We understand that prohibiting left-turns near the Old Glenn Highway will require some adjustment to people’s current driving patterns, and may even take longer. Consequently, the median length has been kept to a minimum.
