i went to go ask this question and saw that it was already posted…I wonder if it raelly is because they once trailed the movie rather than before, like the do now i found this The term “trailer” comes from their having originally been shown at the end of a film programme.[1] That practice did not last long, because patrons tended to leave the theater after the films ended, but the name has stuck.
