Why is a management plan being developed for Hardware Ranch WMA?
Hardware Ranch is one of more than 100 wildlife management areas (WMAs) in Utah. Together, they comprise over 400,000 acres of land dedicated to public access, habitat preservation and promoting wildlife and other natural resources. While they share many characteristics, each WMA remains unique. Hardware Ranch is one of the most active and visible WMAs in the state — it receives more than 70,000 visitors each year. With this many visitors, there are increasing demands on Hardware Ranch and its resources. To attempt to balance those demands with the mission of Hardware Ranch, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is drafting a comprehensive management plan and seeking public comment.
