Why is a DWAI a better alternative?
A DWAI is a good disposition of your case. It can be done relatively quickly, provided the DWI accused performs approximately 35 hours of community service through the American Red Cross of Suffolk County. In addition, in most cases the DWI accused must be examined by an OASAS counselor to determine and inform the court whether the accused has a drinking problem regarding alcohol or whether the DWI accused is an alcoholic.
