Why is a “Deposit” required for Keeper Leagues?

0

Keeper Leagues require a “Deposit” equal to one year’s worth of entry fees, to be paid when you initially join the Keeper League. To ensure the viability of the league from year to year, this deposit money may be used to incentivize a new owner should you decide not to return to the league. When your team is sold to a new owner, your Deposit will be used to cover the difference between what the new owner is willing to pay for the team and the league entry fee. You’ll be refunded the difference. For example, Keeper League A has an entry fee of $50 and thus a Deposit of $50. After 3 years, you decide to drop out. Your team is sold to a new owner for $40. (He’ll also have to pay a $50 Deposit) $10 of your Deposit will be put towards the entry fees for the upcoming year to ensure a full prize pool. $40 will be refunded to you.
