Why is a crushed limestone base preferred to a solid concrete footer?
In traditional construction, concrete walls are placed on a concrete footer and typically rely on a single exterior drain to manage water. The problem is that the single drain is either not adequate to handle the amount of water or the pipe loses efficiency over the years. The result is that water becomes trapped behind the wall creating hydrostatic pressure.
