Why is 4gb ram better than 2gb?

Short answer: It’s faster. Detailed answer: Computers work using something called the “Theory of locality.” What this means is that when a computer loads information from a certain hard disk location into RAM, it also loads information that is LOCATED before this address and after this address into RAM. The reason is that if certain information is needed, most probably you’ll also need information that is somewhat near it; could be located before and could be located after. Hard disks are mechanical and considered significantly slower vs. RAM. If the information is not located in that area that has just been loaded into RAM, the computer loads again from the hard disk into RAM. Huge waste of time. So, if your RAM is bigger, it’ll load more information and thus have a higher probability of having useful information without going again to the hard disk.
