The reason they ‘magically’ change places is that The Really Useful Film Group had to cut a large chunk (two verses) out of that song. They had to cut out a few other bits elsewhere. They had to keep the film under two hours long. The finished running time, after all the cutting, was one hour, fifty-six minutes (thanks, Kate!).
