Why in some city of Northern Ireland catholic people and protestants people live separated?
To generalise: Protestants are the descendants of English Plantation The plantation consisted of the forceful eviction of the Irish people and the ensconcing of the “loyal” foreigners on the best land and banishment and extinction of the native people. The Orange Lodges were set up to intimidate the Irish and deprive them of any say whatsoever in civil affairs. This led to the Civil Rights Movement culminating in the Belfast Agreement. it is not primarily a religious matter but has been inflamed as such by Protestant demagogues The situation has not always been so. The United Irishmen movement leading to the 1798 rebellion was common cause against English suppression of both Catholics and Presbyterian in favour of the Established Church of England.
