Why in movies, yellow tinted glasses are frequently used when driving, shooting range?

Yellow lenses (sometimes called shooters lenses) provide a clear contrast between objects and the background behind them (like the sky). They block out some of the blue light that is responsible for creating blurriness in the atmosphere. I do not recommend using any tinted glasses at night. The thing about yellow lenses increasing visual acuity at night is a total bunk. Any tint on lenses at night actually reduces the distance one can see. So, a 15 percent tint lets in 15% less light and therefore, if you can see 200 feet in front of you while driving at night, you would only be able to see 15% less or 170 feet. That could be dangerous. The only “tint” that I recommend for night driving is anti reflective coating which allows More light to pass through the lenses and therefore increases visual acuity.
