Why I choose Mehmed II?
I picked my topic because Mehmed II is a well known individual in Turkish history. He has completed a successful sultanate for the Ottoman Empire (1444-1481). Mehmed II is also known as The Conqueror of Constantinople. Constantinople is now known as Istanbul. I have been learning about Mehmed II since I was in third grade and I think my knowledge will help me in my project. I went to the Central Library in Howard County to find books about Mehmed II and the Conquest of Constantinople. I was only to find a couple books about him. Because Mehmed II lived in the fifteenth century, it is really hard to find reliable Sources on him. I decided to go on the internet and try to gain more information there. I found a diary and drawings about him. I also found a hand written letter which was from 1478. I decided to create a website about Mehmed II. I enjoy being around computers.
