Why I cannot connect to SQL servers using SQLyog at home/ in my dorm/ even using my laptop on campus?
Students who are trying to connect to the SQL servers from off-campus (or even from a walk-up on-campus wireless or wired network, such as a wireless hotspot in a campus building) will need VPN software installed on their computers. Although VPN is not covered in CS 105, Lab 1 did mention where you can get more instruction about it. More details are available at http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/vpn/index.html You may bring your laptop to TA office hours to seek help(Actually, bringing it to CITES helpdesk in DCL might give you a quicker solution.) Since VPN is not content of CS 105, TAs would give priority to content that is included in the course. If you are getting errors like the above on BOTH servers, it is very likely a VPN issue. I was reading through the course manual and read that “mac users” should pair up with a pc holder. Is this because the software is unavailable for Macs?
