Hypertension may occur because of inevitable release of norepinephrine from the tumor during its excision. However, hypotension may also occur after complete removal of the tumor since the patient is under alpha- & beta- blockers (which are used in the preoperative preparation to antagonize the effects of excess norepinephrine secreted by the tumor).
