Why hindu believe in idol ?
Hinduism is atheistic at the core. There is no personified God. However, not all start with a deep enough level of spirituality. To bring up the level of their spirituality Hinduism permits various methods of worship. Even when we worship God in an idol, there is a procedure to be followed. The idol is just clay, stone, metal or a print on paper. What a Hindu does is to purify himself externally, purify the mind of thoughts and invite the Supreme Consciousness to come and occupy the idol as a focus point for receiving the worship. Only after this invocation does the idol become an object of worship. After the ritual, God is asked to go back into the Infinite leaving the idol back as just clay, stone, metal or a print on paper. Also God has no form, gender or attributes. The devotee just likes to worship that Infinite in the form of human male or female or any kind of form. All Hindus always refer to God in the neutral as That or It. We do not believe in any idol. It is a gross misconce
