it stops because on compression of the jugular vein blood stops flowing in the vein that is related to the tumor and so blood stops flowing in the tumor and makes no noise when compression is removed and blood flows making the noise perceived by the patient as tinnitus (the glomus tumor is in the jugular veins bulb) ( by Prof Dr Hassan Wahba)
