Why have you decided to shut down your “Ask a Counsellor” service from time to time instead of just having longer wait times for online service?

We decided to implement a method of temporarily blocking the ability to post questions to our “Ask a Counsellor” online service in order to give our counsellors an opportunity to “catch up.” We believe it is important that kids receive a counselling response within a reasonable and predictable timeframe when they post a message. In effect, we have created a “busy signal” of sorts. However, kids can always receive immediate, professional help from our counsellors by phone, and they can always access our other online “Help Yourself” services.
