Why have you chosen to work with black and white photography, rather than colour?
I have much more control in the quality of the final photographic print when I work with black and white and I still process film and print all my B&W work. Until recently, one had to carefully select the type of colour film in advance to achieve the right colour and contrast range for particular lighting conditions and subject. I am also very conscious of the impact of a colour image, colour rather than the subject can become too dominant. The sensuous quality of a colour image can sometimes obscure its content especially where large areas of colour can create distracting abstractions. With a black and white print, I can concentrate on revealing the content of the whole imageapologies for double meanings not intended but less can reveal more.
