The Green Bin Program is an integral part of the region’s Zero Waste Plan, and a key step in achieving the overall goal of diverting 75 per cent of the region’s waste from the landfill. Local studies have shown that food waste and compostable paper makes up approximately 50 per cent of household garbage.
