Why have the bus lay-bys been removed?
A.Due to the large increase in traffic over recent year buses have found it progressively harder to rejoin the carriageway after pulling into a lay-by to drop off and pick up passengers. This in turn causes significant delays to the bus journey and creates unreliable arrival times on that service. To maintain a reliable service bus lay-bys have been removed, keeping the buses on the carriageway. The exception to this are timed stops. These are set stops where the bus is required to stop off the carriageway for a period time as part of its route.
